More To Share: Gah, Somebody Stop Me!
I cannot seem to stop drawing and I don’t even know if I only have myself to blame. The Sketch Club community has been an incredible source of inspiration, encouragement, and many things, and so do my friends who appreciate what I do, crappy as the results may be sometimes! Anyway, here are a few more drawings I did in the past week. Enjoy!
Blue Ghost
This one I drew for my friend Ladonna, a Christmas gift. These two are the main characters from her book: Isabell and Amelia. ‘Blue Ghost’ is a lovely book, a steampunk young adult fantasy set in alternate Atlanta. I adore her characters, especially Amelia, and surprisingly a secondary character called Tunnel. Anyway, here it is.
Illusion
This one is another Christmas gift for my friend Dy, also the main characters from her book: Resheph and Maya. ‘Illusion’ is an amazing story, set in apocalyptic Sydney and a secondary world called ‘Balkaith’. The mind-blowing and complex worlds Dy created are just stunning and her characters very engaging to read. I love these two to bits.
Smidge
This one is also a Christmas gift for my friend Erika. Her cat’s name is Smidge and she’s the most gorgeous thing because she’s huge and… curious
I was looking through the pictures of my recent adventure in Maryland and Seattle, and I saw the picture of Smidge. I missed her, so I knew I had to draw her!
Black Widow
This one is for a daily challenge on Sketch Club for which the theme was ‘Shadows’. I wanted to draw something slick and superhero-like, so here goes!

Amazon Huntress
This one is my favourite and took a hell of a long time to draw, but worth it I think.

Smoke
Not sure where this one came from. I was supposed to be writing my resume but got distracted. I like drawing sexy men, so sue me.
Yep, I’ve been busy, having too much fun with this app. Good practice anyway, and it’s good to be drawing things other than Faziel and Haisma :p
See Me In Action
A few friends have asked me recently: how exactly do I produce these paintings on Ipad? Here is how.
I think seeing the step by step in pictures helps, but seeing it live may make a difference. I know at least that was how I learned to draw, by at first watching my husband do it, then the tutorials much like this video I did. I was never an artist, I still am not, but with the right tools, I can produce beautiful paintings. You can too!
I hope you and all those budding artists out there may learn a thing or two from watching it.
And here is the finished product (I did this in… three hours? Including the song which I put together quickly on Sony Acid)
Happy creating, peeps!
Nano, I Declare Defeat
Today is the last day of Nano, and unless I manage to write 15K words by midnight, and I ain’t even going to try, I have failed miserably. It doesn’t matter, I suppose, I have gained something out of it and will come back to Sugar Ache, when my mind’s in it. Besides, I have been writing. Well, more like editing… endlessly, but I did manage to get the synopsis written and sent out, and fixed the query letter (Thanks to my lovely friends who helped). So there, not all for loss.
In any case, congratulations to all those who made (will make it) to 50K words by end of November. You are all amazing.
On the art side, I have been very productive. I started three projects for my friends, hopefully I’ll get them finished by Christmas. In addition, I drew two more for the Sketch Club challenges. No, I have not abandoned Procreate. It’s my first love and I am STILL more comfortable drawing on it. I use it for the other three projects
Anime Challenge: Look Out, Behind You!
I have attempted anime before, but never successful with it. I wanted to do Battle Angel Alita for the challenge, which is my favourite of all time, but she was too hard! So I did Deunan from Appleseed instead. This one took ages to do, that’s why I missed the deadline, ha. Never mind. I have wanted to draw her for ages. Although I did change the details so she looks more futuristic and… less charming :p

Ice Challenge: Ice Princess
The one I submitted was a tad of a lazy job, especially the background. But by that time, I was already exhausted from doing the face and the eyes, and I know I won’t have time to draw today, wanted to get it in before I miss it. But I touched her up this morning, put on the proper hoodie, applied more softness to the edges, and added the falling snow. I like her better now.

Anyway, sorry if this is boring you. I am just trying to practice, practice, practice, so I can get better at this. My beautiful friends at Sketch Club have been very supportive and encouraging to me. I learn so much from them. They’re the best.
Thanks for the visit, peeps. Take care. Keep creating. Gosh, I can’t believe Christmas is just around the corner!!
Hugs, Lyds
