Bleh, I’m rubbish at writing proper blog posts, so let me share some more artwork since I’ve been drawing like mad in the hope to keep my steam for this project running. Apologies if these get boring for you.
I went a bit Haisma-craze this time, since I’m tired of drawing braids, lol. Some didn’t turn out too good but these are the better ones, I think. Again these are not finished yet, but the ideas are captured already, so I’m sharing.
The consecration (formerly known as Vwasili)
I took out the journey to Vwasili because comments said it felt a tad draggy. More words to shave off this massive book, I’m not complaining. So I merged the consecration with Karalin. The process remains the same, a journey into her mind to explore the darker truth of her quest. Here is my attempt to illustrate that confrontation with the voice of conscience.
This is when Haisma gets her Dream weaved for her, and tricked into surrendering Faziel. A dire moment as she has to choose between her brother’s cure and memories of Faziel. That little glowing orb is supposed to be Faziel, which she is chasing in the dream when she refuses to lose him.
This is when Haisma is captured by Blessed Barion Hilimus and interrogated for knowledge of her late mother’s secret operation. As I drew Barion, I realised his ninja-like attire was rather boring, so I gave him pants :p and added tidbits to hint what he is. I do love drawing his eyes. They’re supposed to be distracting blue.
Haisma befriends the only Logikan girl warrior in Jebeyan’s camp: Tara Hoville. I meant to show the size difference here, for Tara is supposed to be as large as the average man in camp, but I think I ended up making Haisma look… twelve, ha.
I couldn’t find references to capture Jebeyan’s frustrated expression, so I had him cover his face, hehe. This is after he tortures Faziel and battles the emotional aftermath himself. I do enjoy writing him the most, my afflicted antagonist, a tad psycho and obsessed. I wish I had more space to illustrate the kind person he was before the book, but this isn’t his story; that’s for another time, I suppose.
Uniting The Skyway
The return of the Sky Pirates at a later chapter is supposed to be a bit Ta-Da-ish, like they are here, lol. For those who read the latest draft of Syrthia, I changed it a bit so Scar Face no longer appears. Yes, I also deleted that dreadful poison subplot :p I love how colourful this turned out. This was one of the more difficult ones to draw, so many I had to get detailed with. That’s also why I only have Captain Moosta in focus, ha. I still have to work on the goggles, methinks, and the one on the right looks proportionatelly wrong. Oh well.
Lastly, one I just finished today: Jebeyan in the final scene. Can’t say more than that but those who have helped review to the last chapter will know what I’m trying to portray here I hope? I do love how this one turned out, and I think I understand what my friend Mike was going through. I find drawing men easier than women. I mostly got the look I was after from first attempts with Jebeyan, Faziel, and even Barion, but Haisma always took several. Hmm… wonder why that is?
Alright, the last chapter is almost ready for posting on OWW. Hopefully I won’t get too distracted to keep working on it. Thanks for the visit.
Take care, peeps. Happy writing and creating!
